Walker’s Pottery store has been a staple of the Dahlonega Public Square since the early 1970s. He throws clay in his working studio, and throughout the store, he has accentuated his bowls, vases and sculptures with thought-provoking lines from poets like Walt Whitman and Rumi. Inside every purchase, Brad Walker inserts a poem he has written, as well as a personal letter. Both, containing words like “love,” “trust” and “understanding,” reveal his peaceful nature and extreme gratitude for the shop.
Canvas and Cork is a combination of wonderful things to see and taste. Studio artists, Ann McCormack and Beth Brightwell are on site in their studios where you can watch them work or wander through the gallery spaces and see the creative works of other local artists. Our tasting room features wines from Cavender Creek Vineyards, and includes a selection of red, white and pink wines from locally grown grapes as well as muscadine wines from Farmhouse Winery in south Georgia for those who enjoy the sweeter side of life.

Oscar Rayneri, watercolor artist, is inspired by the beauty of the North Georgia Mountains as he searches for waterfalls, flowers, and rustic barns to capture in his paintings. Historic buildings in Dahlonega are a favorite subject for many of his paintings. Oscar is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, which was earned through juried acceptance in GWS National and Members’ Exhibitions. In 2015, Oscar’s painting “Morning Light,” was selected for the Art of Georgia II: Portraits of Community, an exhibition of work by Northeast Georgia artists, for display in the Georgia Governors’ Office through April 2016.
Non-profit artist organizations rely heavily on community support and individual memberships. They're very valuable assets to a healthy art community. If you are an artist, please consider joining and supporting your local non-profit art organizations.
