There’s absolutely nothing like Christmas in Dahlonega, Georgia.

There’s absolutely nothing like Christmas in Dahlonega, Georgia.

We could end the entire conversation there, but you probably want some details, right? And perhaps you might need to be convinced.

Well, we could start with the fact that Dahlonega’s Old Fashioned Christmas has been around for longer than most folks can remember; that the hundreds of thousands of lights all around the city’s historic Square are lit, all at once, at exactly 6 pm on Friday, November 27, and those lights stay shimmering bright throughout the holiday season and even into January of next year. Merchants stay open late on weekends for shopping convenience, luminarias are lit on Friday, December 4 and The Historic Holly Theater, Dahlonega’s delightfully intimate and acoustically perfect performance space will host the perennial favorite Miracle on 34th Street throughout the month of December.

Croon at the Moon

Croon at the Moon

On Friday and Saturday nights at the Crimson Moon, when the music downstairs stops, the music upstairs begins. It’s a smooth transition, from some of the Southeast’s best bluegrass and folk rock on the main stage, to a somewhat lounge-y piano-and-lounge-crooner mix in a comfy bar ambiance.
