Ugly Cousin – everyone’s got one.

Dahlonega has one too – but theirs is one of the most talented bluegrass and old-fashioned music bands around and they’ll be performing at 8 pm on Saturday, January 9 at the Crimson Moon, just off the historic Public Square in downtown Dahlonega.

Celebrate the New Year in Dahlonega!

First First Night?

Not quite. Actually Dahlonega’s very first (and presumably annual) First Night celebration will take place this year on the last night before the first day of the New Year. First Nights around the country have always been called that so we’ll have to go with it.

Shop the Visitors Center – Till You Drop

Visitors Centers and Welcome Centers are convenient sources for information about a destination. They’re easy to access and the staff and volunteers are helpful and friendly. In Dahlonega, the Visitors Center is all of that and more.

Not only can you find maps, menus and fair-minded suggestions about where to shop, eat, stay and play, the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Visitors Center also offers a nice selection of local retail items, perfect for holidays gifts and vacation memories.

Hooked on Fishin'

Hooked on Fishin'

Fish like it wet.  Good thing.

We’ve had quite a lot of rain this fall, but presumably, fish don’t care. They’re happy with a worm, a minnow or a cricket, or what looks like a worm, a minnow or a cricket. And avid fisherfolk are happy to oblige, especially in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County, where there are boatloads of fishing options, including 4,000 miles of trout streams and at least 21 public fishing locations.
