Shop the Visitors Center – Till You Drop

Visitors Centers and Welcome Centers are convenient sources for information about a destination. They’re easy to access and the staff and volunteers are helpful and friendly. In Dahlonega, the Visitors Center is all of that and more.

Not only can you find maps, menus and fair-minded suggestions about where to shop, eat, stay and play, the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Visitors Center also offers a nice selection of local retail items, perfect for holidays gifts and vacation memories.

Hooked on Fishin'

Fish like it wet.  Good thing.

We’ve had quite a lot of rain this fall, but presumably, fish don’t care. They’re happy with a worm, a minnow or a cricket, or what looks like a worm, a minnow or a cricket. And avid fisherfolk are happy to oblige, especially in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County, where there are boatloads of fishing options, including 4,000 miles of trout streams and at least 21 public fishing locations.

A Very Special Interview – Meet the Dahlonega Elf!

Okay, our first – and most important -- question ... Do you believe in Santa Claus?

Do I believe? Of course I believe. I sit right next to him on the sleigh each Christmas Eve. Plus he signs my paycheck!

What’s it like to ride on a sleigh drawn by all those reindeer?

It’s exhilarating – a great power takeoff – it’s like being launched by a rocket, then the ride settles down and it’s incredibly smooth. The reindeer tend to pull a bit to the right, but that’s just so we can get around the whole world dropping off presents for good little girls and boys well before sunrise.
