Calling all Book Lovers!

This might be urban legend, although it comes from a good friend, whom I trust. But that friend has a wacky sense of humor, so you never know. She claims that Rita Mae Brown, renowned and prolific writer of popular fiction, and noted horse person, has an employee managing her stables – whose name is … wait for it … Page Turner.

That would be too funny, right?

So, we must confirm this when Rita Mae comes to Dahlonega as one of the featured authors at this year’s Dahlonega Literary Festival. If you attend this event – which is free and open to the public – on March 25 and 25, you can ask Rita Mae yourself and she will either confirm this remarkable bit of literary oddness, or she will give you a look, like, “Huh?” – and that will that.

We can only hope it’s true.

What is definitely true is that this year’s Dahlonega Literary Festival will be the biggest and best, with more than 20 featured authors, and more than a dozen regional writers, plus two days of writing workshops and seminars. Lovers of books – and amateur writers -- are invited to drop in, stay for the day, or take in both days of this lively and insightful festival.

A special event, as part of this year’s festival, will be a book signing, featuring Rita Mae Brown, Dahlonega’s own resident historian Ann Amerson, and photographer extraordinaire, Jack Anthony, known particularly for his fabulous regional waterfalls photography. All three will be available to sign their books at the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Visitors Center from 1-5 pm Friday, March 24. Ms. Brown will only be available from 1-2 pm.
