Downtown Dahlonega is straight out of a Hallmark movie … literally!

Hallmark recently filmed its movie “Christmas in Homestead” on the Dahlonega Square. And when you visit, it’s easy to see why!

Old-time charm is alive and well in Dahlonega. It all starts with the buildings, including our historic courthouse in the middle of the square, which were built in the early and mid-1880s.

Inside these historic buildings, you’ll find locally owned eateries, chocolate shops, antique boutiques, an old-time toy store, Dahlonega General Store, and a historic theatre and lots more.

It’s Pure Gold

Americas first gold rush happened in Dahlonega, and gold is still a major draw here for kids and adults alike. Visit the Consolidated Gold Mines right in town, pan for gold in the Chestatee River, and check out the Gold Museum located in our historic courthouse. You never know there might be a nugget with your name on it!

Local eats that can’t be beat

Downtown Dahlonega is home to global cuisine with hometown hospitality. Taste the world in our German, Italian, Irish, and Asian eateries. From a quick bite to a multi-course meal, all tastes and budgets love the options found in Dahlonega downtown. After dinner, enjoy hand-made chocolates from one of our two local candy shops, tasty pastries at The Picnic Café, or a hand-dipped shake at Connies all right on the square.

One-of-a-kind Shops

Looking for take-home gifts you can’t find anywhere else? You’ll love the assortment of hand-made crafts you’ll find on the Dahlonega Square. Local artists and craftspeople produce fine arts, pottery, candles, handmade soaps, home décor, jewelry and more that you’ll only find here in Dahlonega. Our antique shops, clothing boutiques and outdoor stores offer a wonder of unique ways to remember your Dahlonega vacation when you get back home.
