Southern Living Magazine calls Dahlonega “The Napa of the South”

 

With the highest concentration of wineries, vineyards, and tasting rooms in the state, Dahlonega is known as the Heart of Georgia Wine Country and the Wine Tasting Room Capital of Georgia. Home to eight wine tasting rooms, six wineries, a distillery owned by GRAMMY-award winning musician Zac Brown, and a local meadery, Dahlonega offers a variety of quality wines and spirits to lift your spirits.

Dahlonega-Lumpkin County’s favorable mountain elevations and growing conditions contribute to the region’s expanding wine industry, which annually produces around 100 acres of of European, French hybrid, and American wine grapes.

Cavender Creek Vineyards and Winery is Dahlonega’s smallest family farm winery. Cavender Creek hand-crafts about 1,400 cases per year. The 15-acre property’s vines produce mainly Petit Manseng, Cabernet Sauvignon and American Norton.

Kaya’s Winery and Tasting Room, located atop a ridge at 1,600 feet, offers one of the most exquisite panoramic mountain views in North Georgia. The Tasting Room features 12-foot windows, Edison light bulbs, and reclaimed wood, making Kaya a restful Appalachian Mountains retreat. Visitors can enjoy the cool summer breeze on a 2,000-square-foot covered deck, with live music.

All Kaya wines are made exclusively from estate grown grapes cultivated on the property. The vineyards are planted with classic European, Italian and American varietals.
