So, you’re planning a weekend at Long Mountain Lodge, eh? You’ll be leaving on Sunday, so

you’ve gotta make your stay count. We’ve got a few recommendations to make your stay in

Dahlonega perfect!

Friday

You’ve arrived and you’re worn out from a week at the office. You and your spouse get checked

into one of the Lodge’s fantastically wonderful accommodations and then it hits you: you’re

hungry.

You’ve spent all week in business attire, so the last thing you want to do is get dressed up to hit

the town. You want something simple and casual. Look no further than The Overhang, the U.S.

Army Ranger Camp’s bar and grill just 5 minutes down the road from the Lodge.

Sit on their back deck with your “man mug” of beer and your double cheeseburger and fries and

listen to the Etowah River or you may catch a glimpse of a Black Hawk helicopter, staffed by our nation’s finest,

touching down on the field.

Saturday

Roll out of bed on Saturday and head on down to the breakfast table where Don will serve you

some of the most delectable breakfast foods you can imagine—raised waffles, yogurt parfaits,

frittata, muffins, and a fancy cup of coffee to boot.

Saturday morning is a great time to do a little shopping around the Historic Public Square in downtown Dahlonega -- just five miles from Long Mountain Lodge.  From 2-5 pm every Saturday aftgernoon during the summer, musicians gather on the front lawn of the Dahlonega Gold Museum and an old-fashioned Appalachian Jam breaks out. Bring a chair or settle in on one of the benches for this impromptu concert -- it's ridiculously charming and memorable. Buy some gifts for friends or treatyourself to a unique piece of pottery or other art from one of our local artisans.

It’s lunchtime. North Georgia is sometimes referred to as the Napa Valley of the South (Southern Living Magazine), and

the best way to experience it is through one of our Winery Tour Packages. Get transportation,

lunch, and visits to three of our wonderful local wineries including Wolf Mountain, Montaluce,

Three Sisters, Frogtown, Kaya or The Cottage Vineyard & Winery.

Assuming you're not ready for a nap after your wine and lunch, you could go on one of many

hikes in the area. Head up to he Appalachian Trail or to one of our many waterfalls. To see a list of the

hikes in the area, visit the Dahlonega Visitors Center downtown on the Square..

It’s time to eat again. Making a decision about where to dine in Dahlonega can sometimes be

difficult, because there are so many wonderful choices! The good news is that you can’t go

wrong. Whether you go to Gustavo’s for Pizza, Montaluce for gourmet, to Shenanigan’s Irish

Pub, or Capers on the Square for some authentic Mediterranean, or Spirits for burgers & beers, or delectible salads, you can’t go wrong!

Mosey back to the Lodge and spend some time in our rare book shop, sit on the back porch and

look at the stars, or sit in front of the fireplace in the great room and talk with other guests about

their experiences before bed.

Sunday

Your weekend is winding to a close, but not before one last breakfast at the Lodge’s dining room

table or screened porch—definitely a good note on which to end your weekend. Snag a

cookbook before you go so you can try your hand at a Dianne Quigley dish to impress your

family and friends.

You’re welcome to join us again anytime.
