Humans of Dahlonega … Bear on the Square Founder, Glenda Pender

Back in 1996, a bear came waltzing through the Historic Public Square in downtown Dahlonega with her two cubs. Everyone on the square dropped their responsibilities to come and see. The cooks at Crimson Moon dropped their spoons from making a boiling pot of soup. The massage therapists left their patients on the tables. All to come and see this family of bears. One of the cubs climbed up the now-famous tree in front of Brad Walker's pottery studio, and we eventually had people come out and move the three bears to safety away from the town. Last Weekend to Catch the Little Shop of Horrors at the Historic Holly Theater

It’s a plant! It’s a flower! It’s a mean, green monster from outer space!?

A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre-goers for over 30 years and now it hits the stage of Dahlonega’s historic Holly Theater! The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This R&B carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelbourn, as long as he keeps feeding it – blood. Over time, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out-of-this-world “roots” and intent towards global domination.
