There’s Gold in That There Dahlonega Gold Museum

The Dahlonega Gold Museum has long been an attraction for tourists to this little mountain town. It harbors many displays of historical artifacts and interesting items that tell the story of how Dahlonega became the city it is today. From huge gold nuggets, to maps of the mines, to a document signed by the 10th President of the United States- the Gold Museum features objects that brilliantly display the charm and the history of Dahlonega.

The Delight of Dahlonega

The first thing I noticed as I drove into the town square was the magnificent North Georgia Mountains. I found Dahlonega, the small town nestled in these mountains, to be delightful at every turn. As I explored Dahlonega, it proved itself to be jovial, festive, and full of activity. I had assumed there would be a town square with nice places to eat, but I soon dismissed my expectations as I stumbled upon art galleries, wine tastings, and so much more.

Every year the City of Dahlonega is home to one of the Southeast’s most popular events – Gold Rush Days, which takes place this year on the 20th and 21st of October. Featuring a weekend full of family fun and old-fashioned events, Gold Rush has essentially become Dahlonega’s signature event, and it’s going strong in its 64th year.

A powerful new play is coming to The Holly in downtown Dahlonega. Hunchback of Notre Dame will dig deep to explore "What Makes the Monster and What Makes the Man". This play contains a deep, philosophical message, but still audiences will enjoy a richly entertaining performance with a huge cast. "Hunchback" is setting a new standard for The Holly -- set design and technical aspects of the production are at higher levels than ever before.
