The Georgia Crackers faithfully re-create the vintage Old Time sound of the 1920’s, while keeping alive the spirit of spontaneity and improvisation.
A newly formed trio of musicians, whose sound recalls the golden age of hillbilly string bands. Known as The Georgia Crackers, the group features old-time singer Kenneth Johnson on guitar, Chip Corbitt on claw hammer banjo, and Mick Kinney on fiddle. Kinney has said his secret to fiddle playing is to “keep it hot and greasy, but take it easy.” The musicians take their cues from pioneers such as Fiddlin’ John Carson, Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers to re-create the vintage sound of the 1920s, while still being open to improvisation. They are known for their stage banter and a spirit of spontaneity, making for a very entertaining evening, which if you want a true taste of authentic Old Time music just doesn’t get much better!
