Farm-to-Table dining is currently a popular food trend across the country, and Dahlonega is embracing it with its local farmers market, “U-pick” farms, and restaurants that use fresh local ingredients on their menus.

Every Tuesday and Saturday, from now until the end of October, the Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority will host the Dahlonega Farmers Market at Hancock Park. The market is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and allows local farmers to showcase their homemade goods and sell their produce.

Enjoy Friday Nights in Dahlonega with Music and Movies

This summer, Dahlonega is hosting two new family-friendly events on Friday evenings:  the “First Friday Night Concert Series” and the “Summer Movies under the Stars”.

First Friday Night Concert Series

first_friday_concertOn the first Friday of the month, from July through October, the Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority will host the “First Friday Night Concert Series” in beautiful Hancock Park. The concerts are perfect for all music lovers! Grab a picnic dinner from any of Dahlonega’s restaurants and enjoy the concerts in style. Guests are encouraged to come on into town early for a little shopping at the 50 retail stores on the Historic Dahlonega Square.

Fox 5 Atlanta's Road Warrior Stacey Elgin Visits Dahlonega

Last week, Fox 5 Atlanta’s Road Warrior Stacey Elgin visited Dahlonega in search of gold at the Consolidated Gold Mine.  During her visit, she toured the mine with Miner Mike, panned for gold and learned about the history of the first gold rush in the city. Stacey also got to grub for gems and discovered which gem stones are commonly found in Georgia. During her visit, she got to experience all of Dahlonega’s golden attractions

Festivals and Art Exhibits Make Dahlonega the Place to Visit This Summer

As summer quickly approaches, Dahlonega is preparing for several exciting festivals and a new art exhibit: The 10th annual Georgia Wine Country Festival,The Georgia Fine Wine Festival, the Rodin Exhibit, and The 3rd Annual Etowah Jam Band. Wine and art enthusiasts will want to clear their schedules for these amazing events.

gwcf2010_tents_lowOn June 4-5, head to Dahlonega for the10th Annual Georgia Wine Country Festival, hosted by the Three Sisters Vineyards. In honor of the festival’s 10th anniversary, the event has been extended throughout the month of June to include June 11th-12th and June 18th-19th.
