Bob Thomason has been involved in music since the mid 60’s. a native of SC , he came to Helen, GA and opened the Dulcimer Shop in 1981 and since then has become a master builder and player of the dulcimer. He has performed and taught at festivals, private events and other venues across the country. He is an accomplished guitar player - both finger style and slide - as well as a vocalist. Charles has lived in Cleveland, GA for the past 12 years. He retired from banking in 2009 after a 40 year career. Two years prior to his retirement, Charles began learning to play the harmonica. He and Bob began playing together in Spring of 2010. The chemistry seemed to be good so they began to perform professionally in Fall, 2010. Over the Spring and Summer of 2011 they have played at some of Northeast GA’s finer restaurants and wineries. MOOSE & SQUIRREL
In the fall of 2004 Mike Ewbank and Tommy Dean (AKA Moose & Squirrel), two mainstays of the Georgia music scene, were hired to work an event with a Las Vegas theme. They called Ken Gregory to play trumpet, valved trombone and guitar and added Omar Martinez to swing on drums and christened the quartet "Vaguely Vegas." It's a catchy little name the alludes to the Great American Songbook titles that made up the major source of material sung by members of the notorious "Rat Pack" and other stellar talent that dazzled audiences in Las Vegas during the fifties and sixties.
Tommy sings, Mike plays piano, and together they deliver songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin, Nina Simone, Tony Bennett, Nat "King" Cole, and Louis Armstrong, to name a few. If you appreciate music written by Johhny Mercer, Sammy Kahn, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Jimmy Van Huesen, Harold Arlen and the Gershwin Brothers, you will love the energetic and inspired performances of Moose & Squirrel of Vaguely Vegas.
